MOU and BIDH Signing
Walailak University International College of Dentistry in collaboration with Bangkok Dental Hospital, BIDH, join to develop the study of dentistry and dental public health.
Signing ceremony in cooperation between the International Dental College Walailak University and Bangkok International Dental Hospital Company Limited (BIDH), held on 21 February 2020 at the Walailak University Coordination Unit Bangkok. Professor Dr. Sittichai Khunthongkaew, Acting Dean of the International College of Dentistry Walailak University signed the memorandum of cooperation in cooperation with dentist Pornsak Tantapakul, Chief Executive Officer of BIDH. Bangkok International Dental Hospital Limited, with Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University witnessed the signing ceremony together with the administrators of both parties, professors, staff and students.

This academic collaboration aims to develop dental research, study and dental public health by training seminars for dental clinic operations as well as cooperation in other activities. According to the project, both parties agreed on a 3-year period from the date of signing the memorandum of cooperation. Bangkok Dental International Hospital Company Limited (BIDH) is a dental center with international standards that is JCI accredited from the United States, the first in Thailand. The majority of the specialized dentists graduated from the United States and are American Board Certified. Advanced specialized dental centers such as dental implant centers complete with modern technology such as 3D CT Scan and dental implant laboratories within the dental center that can control the quality of dental work accurately and quickly. This will prove to be very useful for the teaching and learning methods of the International Dental College Walailak University. Together with the students of the college, WUICD plans to take advantage of the readiness of Bangkok International Dental Hospital and utilize its resources to learn and practice.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong said that the signing of this partnership is a cooperation between the public and private sectors that, together, will develop and advance dental practices especially in education. This cooperation will immensely help students of the International Dental College Walailak University and that this cooperation will achieve the objectives of both parties as well.

Professor Dr. Sittichai Khunthongkaew, acting Dean of the International College of Dentistry, said that the academic cooperation between the International College of Dentistry Walailak University and Bangkok International Dental Hospital Company Limited is not just a joint study research and development in dentistry and dental public health together, but rather, and more importantly, a benefit for the students. Bangkok International Dental Hospital is very ready for students to study, learn and practice to gain the experience they need to become well rounded professionals.

Dentist Pornsak Tantapakul said that Bangkok International Dental Hospital not only hopes to provide timely medical services but aspires that this hospital will be an off-campus learning center for Thai dentists and dentists who want to study dentistry. The hospital is very pleased to provide educational cooperation with Walailak University. He states that all aspects are ready especially dental personnel and is confident that this cooperation will be able to help make Thai education comparable to international education.
